For three years, the Nokomis softball team had goals, but never got to chase them in the playoffs. Entering this spring, the Warriors hadn’t reached the postseason in four years, and hadn’t played in the regional finals since 1983.

The newest American Legion baseball team in central Maine is the Somerset Junior Legion squad, which is playing for the first time this season. Somerset is one of 21 Junior Legion teams in Maine. Junior Legion is for players 13 to 17, while Legion is for players 15 to 19.

Kori Dionne, the girls basketball and girls soccer coach at Nokomis Regional High School, was arrested earlier this month and charged with operating under the influence in Bangor.

AUGUSTA — For a while now, it’s been more rule than exception that you won’t have a full roster in American Legion baseball. Combined, Waterville and Augusta were missing about a half-dozen starters for Saturday’s doubleheader.

GARDINER — While Oak Hill baseball struggled to a 3-13 record this spring, Josh Martin emerged as one of the better pitchers in Class B. It’s early, but it looks like Martin is using that as a springboard to a solid summer with Gardiner’s American Legion baseball team.
