AUGUSTA — After losing at Brewer on May 12, the Messalonskee High School baseball team held a team meeting. The Eagles were 5-5, and felt like they were underachieving.

Messalonskee won its ninth consecutive game, winning its first regional title in Class A and reaching the state championship game for the first time since 1973, when the Eagles won the Class B crown.
