River Hawks enjoyed banner fall in 2022, with improbable state championships.

Merrill, who won a state title at Winthrop, becomes just the third Gardiner coach since 1979.

Sharon Coulton (Winthrop), Sharon Gallant (Gardiner), Jody Harmon (Mt. Blue) and Gloria Hewitt (Mount View) combined for 689 victories.

The versatile midfielder scored 10 goals and added 32 assists while leading the Bulldogs to the Class B title.
