PORTLAND — The candidates for Maine’s 2nd Congressional District seat exchanged words for the last time Tuesday, just a week before Election Day.

Summers, a campaign veteran, touches base with voters in Saco, Windham and Freeport.

In one of his latest television ads, Republican U.S. Senate hopeful Charlie Summers recycles familiar claims against his two main opponents.

But it occurred amid reports that national groups are withdrawing from Maine, signaling their belief Maine’s race might be over.
