In a post on Facebook, the sheriff's office reported a bogus account had posted a notice about a homicide that never happened, similar to hoax accounts reported in December by Skowhegan and Augusta police.

Troy mother indicted on lesser manslaughter charge in infant son’s death
Miranda Hopkins, 32, initially was charged with depraved indifference murder, but a Waldo County grand jury indicted her Tuesday on a manslaughter charge, and she was due to be released on bail.
