Sunday’s missile strike came a day after the Israeli army said it killed three militants who had crossed into Israel from Lebanon and attempted to carry out an attack.

The first day of strikes Friday hit 28 locations and struck more than 60 targets. President Biden had warned Friday that the Iranian-backed Houthis could face further strikes.

The Biden administration has quietly continued to supply arms to Israel. Last week, however, President Biden publicly acknowledged that Israel was losing international legitimacy for what he called its ‘indiscriminate bombing.’

U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken told Palestinian President Abbas that the U.S. supports ‘tangible steps’ toward a Palestinian state, according to officials.

He is the most senior militant in the armed group killed since Hamas’ Oct. 7 attack into southern Israel triggered all-out war in Gaza and lower-intensity fighting between Israel and Hezbollah in the north.
