HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL: Studying ‘film’ in the digital age
When high school football coaches in Maine began using game film as a coaching tool, it wasn't easy. Former Lawrence High School coach Pete Cooper remembered how it started in central Maine in the late 1960s. Area coaches would drop their 16 millimeter game film off at the Fairfield home of Dick McGee, the head coach at Colby College. A courier on his way from Boston to Orono to pick up the University of Maine's film would stop in Fairfield, pick up the local film, and bring it to Boston, where it was developed.

HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL: Waterville runs to win over Old Town
Saturday at Drummond Field, the Purple Panthers rolled over Old Town, 54-8, behind a bruising ground attack that accounted for more than 300 yards. So far this season Waterville (3-0) has outscored its Eastern Class C opponents 170-30.

Quarterback Parker Asselin was on target Saturday, completing all seven passes he threw for 173 yards and a touchdown as Oak Hill cruised past Maranacook 38-0 in a Western D Campbell Conference game Saturday afternoon.

Dylan Hapworth and Zach Guptill combined for 330 yards rushing and six touchdowns on 45 carries for Winslow, as the Black Raiders grinded out a 49-18 win over the Trojans. Winslow improved to 3-0, while MDI is 2-1.
