The Skowhegan Police Department is dealing with a fake posting on its Facebook page that falsely claimed there had been a triple murder in town.

Michelle Sweet was smoking a cigarette while using oxygen, causing a fire that severely injured her Sunday afternoon and destroyed a mobile home, fire officials said.

Dozens of volunteers on Monday packed up more than 175 boxes of Thanksgiving Day meals at the Federated Church for pickup Tuesday morning.

No injuries were reported in the Monday morning fire, and crews were able to save two cats from the burning building off U.S. Route 2.
