An organization associated with Bailey Public Library is trying to raise roughly $100,000 for the project.

The fundraiser was inspired by Father Real “Joe” Corriveau, a priest raised in Winthrop who founded the church in the mountains of Haiti.

The Winthrop Congregational Church needs to fix its bell tower, which has fallen silent because of the need for long-term repairs.

Residents hope that improvements can be made soon at the site of the fire that destroyed the building 6 months ago, which some describe as ‘kind of an eyesore.’
