AUGUSTA — Emergency crews are working to right an 18-wheeler which rolled over about 6:40 a.m. today, blocking the southbound travel lane of Interstate 95 at Exit 113 in north Augusta.

The single vehicle crash sent truck driver Nelson Plourde, 51, of Gardiner, to MaineGeneral Medical Center, Augusta, with a cut on the elbow, according to Steve McCausland, spokesman for Maine State Police, who are investigating the crash.

McCausland said the truck had just been loaded with grain at Blue Seal Feeds on Riverside Drive, and was entering the southbound lane when the truck overturned.

Some grain spilled on the highway, and McCausland said the lane will remain blocked for another couple of hours while it is cleared.

“State Police and Department of Transportation worked very quickly to set up cones, and traffic, though slow, continues to move,” McCausland said.
