PITTSFIELD — Stanley B. Short Jr. and Debora M. Short of Pittsfield are proud to announce their 40th wedding anniversary. Mr. Short and the former Debora Hapworth were married on November 24th, 1972, at St. Marks Episcopal Church in Waterville. The wedding ceremony was performed by Father David Glendinning.

Debora was born and raised in Winslow and graduated from Winslow High School in 1970. Stanley was born and raised in Fairfield and graduated from Lawrence High School in 1969.

The couple raised their son Derek and daughter Gillian, while living in Benton. The couple are blessed with five grandchildren.

Stanley and Debora made a career move which took them to Lebanon, Ohio in 1997. Upon their return to Maine in 2002, they bought a home in Pittsfield where they reside today.

Debora owns and operates a gift shop at their home called the “The Right Place.”

Stanley has just been elected by the people of Clinton, Detroit and Pittsfield to serve as their representative in the 126th Maine Legislature.

In celebration of their 40th anniversary the couple took a two-hour, seven mile horseback ride during low tide on Popham Beach, and then followed up with a celebration party at their home. Attending the party were friends and relatives from the central Maine area.
