Mo-ped driver hurt in Chelsea accident Tuesday
CHELSEA — An Augusta man was injured Tuesday after crashing his mo-ped on Hallowell Road.
Daniel Bolduc, 44, was taken by Augusta Rescue to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston with injuries that were not believed to be serious, said Maine State Police Trooper J.B. Macdonald. Bolduc remained conscious and alert while being treated at the scene, Macdonald said.
Bolduc was issued a summons charging him with operating after license suspension. Macdonald said a sample of Bolduc’s blood will be tested for alcohol and other intoxicants, which is standard procedure.
The crash occurred shortly before 1:30 p.m. as Bolduc drove his mo-ped east on Hallowell Road. Near the town’s fire station, Bolduc lost control the mo-ped and drifted across the westbound lane, where he fell over onto the road’s shoulder, Macdonald said. Macdonald said he is not sure what caused Bolduc to lose control and fall. Bolduc was not wearing a helmet.
One lane of Hallowell Road was closed briefly as responders tended to Bolduc.
