We may never know the reason why Christopher Knight chose the life he did.
I admit it is an intriguing story: Who among us hasn’t thought about dropping off the grid? But let’s call the North Pond Hermit what he really is, “The Thief (with a capital T) of North Pond.”
We seem to be romanticizing it, but we mustn’t lose sight of the fact for the last 27 years Knight apparently treated the camps, especially the Pine Tree Camp, as his own personal department stores.
I’m sure he drove everybody crazy. And now he’s gotten a marriage proposal? That’s not just a little crazy; it is a lot crazy.
I’m sure a book deal will be forthcoming. Knight needs to apologize and pay for his crimes, and then get a job. But he need not worry, I will still buy his book.
