WINSLOW — The town of Winslow is initiating an inventory update program to maintain an accurate real estate record and a fair assessment for every property owner. Land owners have two options, either option must be completed on or before April 1, 2014. Contact the assessor’s office to schedule an on-site visit of the property, call or mail to Town of Winslow, Maine Assessor’s Office, 114 Benton Ave., 04901; call 872-2776, ext. 5204 or 5205; fax: 872-1999; or email: jmathiau@winslow-me.gov or mfenlason@winslow-me.gov. Officials will schedule a convenient time. The visit may include an interior inspection, an exterior measure and a new photo. This visit should not take more than 20 minutes.

The second option is to submit a Data Verification Form. The form is a detailed questionnaire regarding the components of the building(s). The submitted form may be subject to further inquiries or a site visit may be warranted. Officials will take a new photo of the property once the form is received. The form may be mailed or emailed. This request is made to you pursuant to Title 36, section 706 which provides that property owners furnish information upon written request from the assessor. Non compliance results in the loss of right to appeal the final assessment. The inventory update program will eliminate the need for a comprehensive and expensive town wide revaluation as the work will be done in house with our existing equipment and administered by our current staff.

Forms are available in the office or online at www.winslow-me.gov:8081/departments/assessor.
