Red Sox fans ignored Saturday’s cold weather and lined up to see the 2013 World Series trophy at Hadlock Field in Portland.

An unofficial count by Portland Sea Dogs personnel had between 70 to 100 people every half hour for nearly three hours moving through the line to have photos taken with the trophy. The 2004 and 2007 World Series trophies were also present.

There was a second line for viewing the trophies only but no estimate of how many people passed through that line.

No Red Sox or Sea Dogs players accompanied the trophies, but that didn’t matter to the hundreds of fans who waited nearly an hour or longer.

Former Sen. George Mitchell, Dick Flavin, a Fenway Park announcer, and Dr. Charles Steinberg from the Red Sox front office spoke very briefly beforehand.

The 2013 Red Sox World Series roster featured 17 players that played for the Sea Dogs, including two players that started the season in Portland – Brandon Workman and Xander Bogaerts.

Portland’s opening day will be on April 10.
