HALLOWELL — Spectrum Generations seeks volunteers to serve as coaches for its Matter of Balance Program.

A Matter of Balance: Managing Concerns About Falls is conducted in eight two-hour sessions and uses group discussion, problem—solving strategies, videos and gentle physical exercise to help older adults learn coping methods to reduce the fear of falling and remain active and independent.

Coaches need good communication and interpersonal skills, enthusiasm, dependability and a willingness to lead small groups of older adults and must be able to lead low to moderate level exercise, according to a news release from Spectrum Generations.

A free coach training will be held from 8 a.m. to noon Monday, June 23, and Tuesday, June 24, at Cohen Community Center, Town Farm Road.
