AUGUSTA —The Maine State Library will present a program, “Not Just Dusty Old Books — Hidden Gems in Probate Court,” at 10 a.m. Thursday at the library.

Probate courts provide information for genealogists trying to track down family history. With original records dating back to 1799, the Kennebec County Probate Court has extensive documentation of estates, guardianship, adoptions, trusts and more, according to a news release from the library. Kathleen Ayers, register of probate for Kennebec County, will discuss those resources during the program, which will take place during the regularly scheduled meeting of the Maine State Library Genealogy Club.

The program is open to the public. Refreshments will be served. For more information, call Emily Schroeder at 287-5600 or email Emily.Schroeder@maine.gov.
