An Expression of Legislative Sentiment recognizing Augusta’s Deb Violette, president and CEO of Free ME from Lung Cancer, recently was heard in Senate Chambers. Sen. Roger Katz, R-Augusta, referred to the phrase in the sentiment “tireless advocate.” “I think that Deb Violette invented that term. She has been like a dog on a bone, raising money and raising awareness for lung cancer research,” said Katz in a news release from Free ME from Lung Cancer. Violette organizes several events throughout Maine including an annual run/walk in Augusta. Katz said, “I am so proud of all she does and so glad she could be here today to accept the congratulations of the Legislature and also to accept the encouragement of the Legislature for everything she continues to do.”
