Our governor vetoed 64 line items in the budget, despite knowing the Legislature would override them (which it did, many by unanimous vote).
He did this in a fit of pique over not getting his way, and in so doing he wasted $18,000 each day the Legislature had to stay in session (as reported in the newspaper). While it hasn’t happened yet, I suspect he will veto the entire veto-proof budget, for the same childish reason, to the tune of another $18,000 day.
Champion of protecting my tax dollars? I don’t think so.
