I have been getting very good medical attention at the Veterans Affairs hospital at Togus for 38 years. While I’ve not had need to utilize the mental health section, I find it very hard to reconcile “diametrically opposite” levels of care between my personal experiences and what I read as the June 18 front-page headline article, “Systemic Problems: Federal report chides Togus for veterans care.”

I’ve never waited more than two to three weeks for an appointment when I’ve called for one, and my prescriptions have always beaten the 10-14 days recommended for refills.

I certainly hope today’s article in the newspaper wasn’t a combination of fact and a “cut and paste” of more serious issues at other facilities.

Men and women at the VA in Togus earn kudos for their great care.
