AUGUSTA — A 20-year-old from Kentucky waived extradition Thursday on charges of failing to comply with release conditions on various charges after he was found in Chelsea, allegedly accompanied by a young girl.

David Glenn Harvey, of Alvaton, Kentucky, is charged in Warren County Circuit Court in Kentucky with unlawful transaction with a minor, which is defined as inducing or aiding the minor to engage in illegal sexual activity, prohibited use of electronic communication system to induce a minor to engage in sexual activity and custodial interference.

In Maine, he is accused of being a fugitive from justice.

According to an affidavit by Kennebec Sheriff’s Deputy Derek Wing, police here were notified that a girl was missing from Kentucky and believed to be at her father’s home on Windsor Road in Chelsea.

Authorities there asked that the location be checked for her and for Harvey, who allegedly drove her there in his black Pontiac Grand Prix.

Wing said he contacted the homeowner Wednesday morning, learned that the girl and Harvey were both in the home and arrested Harvey.

On Thursday, Harvey appeared at a court hearing via video link from the jail and signed a form indicating he waived extradition.

At the request of Attorney Lisa Whittier, serving as the lawyer of the day in a number of cases, the judge agreed to review bail in 28 days in case Kentucky authorities haven’t removed Harvey from the Kennebec County jail.

The arrest warrant from the Warren County Circuit Court indicates that bail for Harvey on the charges is $10,000 cash.

It appeared that he was jailed most recently in mid-May in Kentucky.

Published reports in Kentucky indicate the girl, 16, who was reported missing from her Kentucky home about 6 a.m. Monday, was uninjured. Those reports also indicate that the warrants for Harvey’s arrest were related to a previous incident.

A call to the public information officer of the Warren County Sheriff’s Department was not returned immediately.
