Joy Sirois

MADISON — Mr. and Mrs. Peter Sirois celebrated their 40th anniversary June 28, 2015. They renewed their marriage vows Sunday, June 28, at St. Sebastian Catholic Church. The Rev. John Mazzei performed the ceremony. They also went to dinner at the Heritage House. While at dinner, they met Sheila and Dave Robbins of Skowhegan, who were celebrating their 56th anniversary. Following dinner, the two couples went to the Robbinses’ house to further celebrate their anniversaries.

Sirois and the former Joy Pomelow were married June 28, 1975, at Coburn Park. The ceremony was performed by Beverly Hebert. They had their marriage vows validated by the church on Dec. 23, 1987, during a ceremony performed by the Rev. Georges Plante.

Joy and Peter are both retired.

Joy did various jobs, but the bulk of her working career was working as a florist in five flower shops. When her 9-year-old grandson came to live with them, she found a job compatible with his schedule, working as the cook at Starks Elementary School. Her last job was the best; working with the special people at Community Rehabilitation. Now she takes care of her youngest and unexpected grandchild, Lily, who is 3; and helps her mother, Dolline, who was 84 on the Fourth of July.

Peter had a diverse work history including subway signal maintainer, electric motor re-winder, photo processing technician, merchant seaman, Navy electrician, pulp and paper worker, community development director and photographer.

They have two daughters, Melissa Sirois, of Madison, and Heather Taylor, of Anson; and six grandchildren, Jordan Sirois, Samantha and Sara Taylor, Cassidy and Breanna Sirois, and Lily Taylor.
