A 31-year-old China man was killed in a one-vehicle crash Sunday afternoon when his car went off the road around a curve on Plains Road in Litchfield, rolled and hit a tree, throwing him from the vehicle, police say.

The Maine State Police trooper investigating the crash said Joshua Salois, 31, was driving west too fast around a left-hand curve of the road about 100 yards east of the Maine Turnpike overpass a little before 2 p.m. Sunday. After his 2003 Toyota Camry went off the road, Salois overcorrected and lost control of the vehicle, said Trooper Christopher Rogers. He was ejected from the vehicle and died instantly when the car hit a tree, Rogers said.

Salois, the car’s only occupant, wasn’t wearing a seatbelt, Rogers said.
