BUCKSPORT— The Maine Health Access Foundation is giving nearly $150,000 to nonprofit dental clinics around the state in an effort to make affordable dental care more accessible to low-income residents.
The grants will go to health centers in Bucksport, Brewer, Dexter and Belfast. Another will go to Community Dental, which operates in Portland and Biddeford.
The clinics recently completed business plans detailing how they would improve their practices in the long term.
Maine Health Access Foundation program officer Morgan Hynd says thousands of people in the state have unaddressed dental needs because they can’t afford care.
