ROCHESTER, NEW HAMPSHIRE — Western Massachusetts representative Pittsfield scored two runs in the third inning and four more in the sixth inning to topple Augusta 6-1 in a 13-and-under Babe Ruth New England regional pool play game Monday morning.
Christian Marchbanks picked up the victory, striking out five and allowing just three hits in 5 2/3 innings.
Nick Harrington led Pittsfield (2-0) offensively, going 1 for 3 with a double and three RBIs. Jake Risley also drove in a run.
For Augusta (1-1), Kyle Douin went 1 for 2 with two walks while Logan Dupont went 1 for 3 with an RBI single.
Augusta will conclude pool play against Eastern Massachusetts (Taunton) on Tuesday at 1 p.m.
