America’s dependence on foreign oil is lower than it has been in many years. Our energy security is increasing and we are responsibly developing oil and natural gas all over the country, but we still have more work to do before we are completely independent for our energy sources. This is so important, especially considering the unrest in the foreign countries we do business with regularly.

The determination of our current administration to advance clean energy is to be applauded, but at the same time, I think they are undermining the advancement of the oil and gas industry. They are required to follow guidelines that keep their operations safe. We have become accustomed to the luxuries that are afforded to us by the use of oil and gas, and I for one do not want to be forced into using solar panels or wind turbines to generate my power and provide heating to my home.

Let’s remember that the oil and gas industry has been around for a long time and has proven that they can be a reliable source of energy. Solar and wind power are not dependable enough to meet all of our energy needs.
