MANCHESTER — Police have identified a suspect and issued an arrest warrant in a bank robbery that was reported Friday morning at Camden National Bank at the intersection of Western Avenue and Pond Road in Manchester.

Members of the Kennebec County Sheriff’s Office and Maine State Police went to the scene at 11:30 a.m., after a bank employee reported to police that a man had approached a teller, said he had a gun and left with an undisclosed amount of money, Kennebec County Sheriff Ryan Reardon said.

Police have identified Clinton Richard Damboise, 40, of Belgrade, as a suspect in the case, Reardon said in a news release Friday afternoon. They have issued a warrant for Damboise’s arrest on charges of felony theft and robbery.

Bank employees described the suspect as being in his 40s and 6 feet, 3 inches tall with a scruffy beard. He reportedly was wearing dark clothing, a baseball cap and a light brown Carhartt-style jacket with a band around the waist.

He left the bank on foot heading toward a nearby karate studio, bank employees reported to police, but it was not clear whether he had a vehicle.

Reardon said Damboise is just over 6 feet tall, weighs 230 pounds and has brown hair and brown eyes. Damboise also goes to Connecticut frequently, Reardon said. Reardon advised anyone who sees the suspect to contact police and not approach him.
