WATERVILLE — A motor vehicle crash on Interstate 95 north near mile 124 in Waterville slowed traffic Thursday morning.

The vehicle’s driver, Lori Pelletier, 50, of Fairfield, dozed off briefly and crashed into a bridge abutment while driving north on I-95, according to Maine State Police Trooper Jacob Roddy, who went to the crash site.

Pelletier was taken to Inland Hospital in Waterville with minor injuries. No charges are pending, according to Roddy.

The crash occurred around 10 a.m. just north of the Sidney town line in the interstate’s northbound lanes.

The green 1995 Buick LeSabre that Pelletier was driving was destroyed in the accident, Roddy said.

Sidney Fire and Rescue also went to the scene.

The crash took place near where construction is underway on a new exit near mile marker 124 that will connect to Trafton Road. Traffic backed up about a half-mile late Thursday morning as a result of the accident.
