Litchfield is a wonderful town to live in. I should know since I have lived here for more than 44 years. For the most part our town government has been run very well. We have had our share of dubs, city slickers and everything in between. But we have not had liars, thieves or people committing fraud.

Our town manager is smart and dedicated to the town and does a fine job at keeping Litchfield running smoothly. Our selectmen are equally devoted and care about the town and the people in it. For the last three or four years we have had some of the best people in this office. They make sure to stay up to date on municipal law by taking courses offered by the state.

Our code enforcement officer makes sure when he issues a permit that it meets the requirements set forth by statute. Our director of public works sees to it that our roads are taken care of, and in the winter the road crews are out in force making sure the roads are clear and well sanded.

We have a wonderful volunteer fire department. Our trucks are well maintained and ready to go. Last but not least, our first responders, all volunteers, are well trained and there if anyone needs help, day or night.

We can and should feel proud of the people who devote themselves to keeping our town safe. They are honest, hardworking and deserve our support. Don’t ever allow anyone to say differently.
