MADISON — Sean Whalen scored 16 points while Matt Oliver and Mitch Jarvais each added 15 points as the Madison boys basketball team was able to hang on and escape a Mountain Valley Conference showdown with Hall-Dale with a 66-64 overtime victory Saturday afternoon.

“We took care of the ball in overtime, but (Hall-Dale) shot the lights out all night,” Madison head coach Jason Furbush said.

Indeed, Hall-Dale (8-3) had success shooting the ball, as the Bulldogs nailed 11 3-pointers during the contest.

Ashtyn Abbott led the Hall-Dale attack, scoring 22 points. Tyler Nadeau, Alec Byron and Jett Boyer each added 11 points.

Furbush credited Oliver’s play during the second half as a factor in Madison taking the victory.

“He had key offensive rebounds in the second half when it mattered most,” Furbush said.
