SKOWHEGAN — The Festival of Light, a free community holiday event, will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, Dec. 14-16, in the Fellowship Hall of Centenary United Methodist Church, 113 Dr. Mann Road.

The festival is a time to celebrate light as a symbol of hope. The festival will feature a light-filled display of angels, nativity sets, menorahs and other symbols of light.

Music will be provided each night: The Over the River Bell Ringers at 6 p.m. Thursday; the Community Band at 6 p.m. Friday; and the Community Chorus at 4 p.m., leading Christmas songs on Dec. 16.

There will be a Peace Tree, sponsored by The Skowhegan Nursery School and Day Care. Visitors can vote for their favorite display. Refreshments of hot cocoa, milk and cookies will be available.

All are welcome; donations are encouraged.
