Karen Curtis of Augusta Elks Lodge 964 present a check for $5,700 during a K9’s on The Front Line graduation on Dec. 3. Norman Newell was one of four veterans that received a diploma and their dogs completed training.
The proceeds were raised during the Elks Summer Music Festival to benefit the K9’s on The Front Line and Maine Children’s Cancer Program.
The veterans and the children programs are the largest of the many fundraising functions that are held at the Augusta Elks Lodge each year.
K9s on The Front Line is a nonprofit organization based in Portland that supplies fully trained PTSD service dogs at no cost to the recipient.
