SOUTH CHINA — Gavin Blanchard hit a 3-pointer with 2.9 seconds remaining to give the Erskine boys basketball team a thrilling 42-39 victory over Skowhegan in a Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class A game Friday night.

Austin Dunn led Erskine (2-1) with 15 points, while Chandler Moore added 12 points. Blanchard, Braden Soule and Jack Jowett each had five points.

Marcus Christopher, Cole Pierce and Kiel Lachapelle each scored nine points for Skowhegan (1-1).

BREWER 55, MESSALONSKEE 49: Kobe Rogerson scored a game-high 18 points and Cameron Monroe added nine as the Witches prevailed in a KVAC A game in Brewer.

Brandon Glidden and Isaac Cummings each scored eight points for Brewer (2-0).

Tucker Charles scored 12 points to pace the Eagles (0-3).

NOKOMIS 79, MT. BLUE 44: Zach Hartsgrove had 25 points and six rebounds to lead the Warriors to the KVAC A win in Newport.

Josh Smestad added 16 points and five assists for Nokomis (1-1). Andrew Haining scored 10 points for the Warriors.

Marshall Doyan led Mt. Blue (0-2) with 14 points.

BUCKFIELD 42, RANGELEY 35: Ethan Jackson scored 15 points and Zach Grover added 12 as the Bucks (1-1) edged the Lakers.

Kyle LaRochelle scored a game-high 26 points for Rangeley (0-2).

HAMPDEN 49, LAWRENCE 43: Alydia Brillant scored 13 points and Marissa Gilpin added eight as the Broncos held on for the KVAC A victory in Hampden.

Molly Folsom scored 16 points and Keagan Alley added 10 for Lawrence (2-1).

GARDINER 46, CONY 29: Gardiner used a big second half on its way to a KVAC A victory.

The Tigers (2-1) outscored the Rams 29-14 after halftime. Jaycie Stevens and Bailey Poore led the offense with 10 points apiece.

Allee Cloutier scored eight points for lead Cony (0-2) while Cari Hopkins had six.

MESSALONSKEE 66, BREWER 38: Gabrielle Wener scored 15 points to lead the Eagles to their first win of the season.

Alyssa Genness added 10 points for Messalonskee (1-2) while Ally Turner had five points, six assists and five rebounds.

Brewer (0-2) was led by Emily Lord with eight points.

SKOWHEGAN 62, ERSKINE 35: The Indians outscored the Eagles 25-5 in the first quarter and never looked back on their way to the KVAC A win in Skowhegan.

Alyssa Everett had 10 points and 10 rebounds for Skowhegan (2-0) while Annie Cooke added nine points and eight rebounds. Lindsey Warren scored 13 points.

Erskine (0-2) was led by Lydia Boucher and Bailey Cloutier with seven points apiece.

RANGELEY 68, BUCKFIELD 12: Natasha Haley scored 13 points to go along with 10 rebounds, five steals and four blocks as the Lakers rolled to the D South victory in Buckfield.

Lauren Eastlack scored 12 points and Brooke Egan added 10 for Rangeley (2-0). Egan also had six rebounds and four steals.

Katy Henderson led Buckfield (0-2) with six points.

WINTHROP 44, MT. ABRAM 40: Aaliyah Wilson-Falcone scored 16 points to lead the Ramblers to the Mountain Valley Conference win in Winthrop.

Layne Audet added 10 points for Winthrop (2-1) while Jillian Schmelzer chipped in nine.

Summer Ross scored a game-high 26 points for the Roadrunners (1-2) while Megan Sorel added eight.

JOHN BAPST 40, WATERVILLE 32: With the score tied at 32-32 with five minutes to play, the Crusaders kept the Panthers scoreless the rest of the way to pick up the Class B win in Bangor.

Crystal Bell led John Bapst (2-0) with 11 points, while Carly LaBelle added seven.

Waterville committed 38 turnovers, 26 in the first half. Mackenzie St. Pierre led Waterville (1-1) with nine points.
