GOLF: Spector named pro at Sugarloaf
CARRABASSET VALLEY — Seven-time Maine Women’s Amateur champion Abby Spector has paid her dues as an assistant golf pro for several years and Monday she reaped those dividends as Sugarloaf Golf Club named her the course’s first female head golf pro.

HIGH SCHOOL TENNIS NOTEBOOK: Windy, cold conditions challenge players
Players and coaches have come down from the high produced by spring temperatures well into the 80s. This past week is more typical of spring weather in Maine, perhaps even a little colder and windier than normal. No sport is more affected by these conditions than tennis, especially when it comes to wind.

So far the weather has cooperated for the high school preseason. Now, if can only stay that way for a few weeks. Today is opening day for many high school teams and most are prepared after a mild late March and early April.
