AUGUSTA – The Governor’s Energy Office says the average statewide cash price for heating oil in Maine is holding steady as spring nears.

The statewide average is $1.71 per gallon, about the same as it has been for the last few weeks. Kerosene fell 4 cents over the last three weeks to $2.28 per gallon and propane stayed about the same at $2.21 per gallon.

The highest average price for heating oil in Maine was $1.85 per gallon in northern Maine. The lowest average price was $1.67 per gallon in southwestern Maine.

The average price for kerosene topped out at $2.37 per gallon in southwestern Maine while the average propane price rose as high as $2.38 in northern Maine.
