I’m writing this letter in regards to a question asked by a young man on the TV the other day. His question was, “What’s the big deal about the Alamo?”

I would like to tell this young man that 187 men died at the Alamo for something called freedom.

Will Travis took out his sword and drew a line in the sand, and asked if they would stay and fight. They all knew no help was coming and that they would die. He gave them a choice, though. They could leave and go home to their families or stay and die. They all choose to stay, even knowing they were going to die. What was going through their minds?

God, what men these were. We won’t find men like these today. That’s what’s wrong with most young people today. Most of these kids can’t think when they’re sitting down, and I know they can’t think standing up.

God bless all 187 men of the Alamo and their souls now they rest in the arms of the Lord. And God bless freedom as we know it today.
