PHIPPSBURG — The U.S. Coast Guard has suspended the search of the Kennebec River for a Maine man believed to have fallen off his boat near Georgetown Island.
The Coast Guard says Richard Lemont of Phippsburg was last seen around noon on Thursday.
At about 1:15 p.m. Thursday a Maine Marine Patrol aircrew spotted an aluminum skiff near Perkins Ledge with no one aboard.
Coast Guard and other emergency response crews searched the area between Phippsburg and Popham Beach State Park overnight and until just after noon today when the search was suspended.
