AUGUSTA — Two people were taken to the hospital Saturday after a three-car crash on Interstate 95.

Jessica Mihalik, 23, of Monmouth and a passenger in another vehicle, Ruby Courtwright, 62, address unknown, were each taken by ambulance MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta with complaints of pain, said Maine State Police Trooper Scott Dalton.

The crash occurred in the north bound lanes near mile marker 111 when a Ford Taurus being driven by Barbara Bachewrrg, 82, of Litchfield, and a Ford Explorer being driven by Mihalik, slowed in traffic near a construction site.

Mihalik’s sport utility vehicle was hit from behind by a Ford Explorer being driven by Canadian Derek Bennett, 64, Dalton said. The impact pushed Mihalik’s SUV into Bachewrrg’s car.

Traffic was reduced to one lane as emergency crews responded to the crash.

Neither speed nor substances as a factor in the crash, Dalton said. There are no charges.




At 12 p.m., there was a report of mischief on Cony Road.

12:57 p.m., Cameron Charles Wilson, 22, of Augusta, was arrested on Powhattan Street and charged with assault and violating probation.

1 p.m., there was a disturbance on Winter Street.

1:11 p.m., there was an accident at the intersection of Water and Commercial streets.


2:17 p.m., injury was reported after a crash on Water Street.

2:39 p.m., mischief was reported on Cony Road.

2:44 p.m., there was an accident at the intersection of Western Avenue and Sewall Street.

3:15 p.m., there was a report of sex offenses on New England Road.

3:50 p.m., there was an accident on Bangor Street.

4:14 p.m., there was a report of a recent burglary on Ward Road.


8:22 p.m., theft was reported at a Civic Center Drive store.

8:24 p.m., there was an accident in the southbound lane of Interstate 95 near mile marker 104.

9:57 p.m., a 26-year-old Topsham man was issued a summons charging him with operating after suspension on Western Avenue.

11:35 p.m., firefighters responded to an alarm at a Western Avenue business.


At 2:41 a.m., an assault was reported on Littlefield Street.


5:41 a.m., there was a report of an assault on Bond Street.

5:46 a.m., disorderly conduct was reported on Townsend Road.

6:07 a.m., there was a report of disorderly conduct on Bond Street.

6:36 a.m., a vehicle was reported stolen from Lees Court.

11:53 a.m., there was an accident on Sewall Street.

11:55 a.m., theft was reported on Oxford Street.




At 5:59 p.m., an alarm sounded on Route 133.

6:23 p.m., there was an accident on Route 133.

10:37 p.m., there was a problem with an animal on Bowdoin Street.


At 48:15 a.m., there was a stray animal on Maranacook Road.
