AUGUSTA — Two people were taken to the hospital Saturday after a three-car crash on Interstate 95.

Jessica Mihalik, 23, of Monmouth and a passenger in another vehicle, Ruby Courtwright, 62, address unknown, were each taken by ambulance MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta with complaints of pain, said Maine State Police Trooper Scott Dalton.

The crash occurred in the north bound lanes near mile marker 111 when a Ford Taurus being driven by Barbara Bachewrrg, 82, of Litchfield, and a Ford Explorer being driven by Mihalik, slowed in traffic near a construction site.

Mihalik’s sport utility vehicle was hit from behind by a Ford Explorer being driven by Canadian Derek Bennett, 64, Dalton said. The impact pushed Mihalik’s SUV into Bachewrrg’s car.

Traffic was reduced to one lane as emergency crews responded to the crash.
