I read Sen. Roger Katz’s column, “Government By Disrespect” in Monday’s newspaper.

Katz and his colleagues well know they need damage control as our current governor and his indiscretions (to put it politely) have been the greatest recruiting incentive Maine Democrats and progressives have had in years.

Distancing oneself from someone who is rapidly becoming a destructive political liability is calculated prudent politics, and Katz is an expert at that.

I’m gratified to hear that he and his fellow senators “are not the enemy of labor.” Perhaps a real demonstration of that might be sponsoring a resolution supporting return of the labor murals to their rightful place and voting against legislation to water down child-labor laws, among other travesties.

As one of Katz’s constituents, I say, “Actions speak louder than words, Senator.”
