I’m getting confused.
First of all, when the Democrats in Congress were trying were trying to pass the health care bill, all of our tea party friends were saying “hands off my Medicare.” I agree with them. It’s a good idea to save Medicare.
So, anyway, they went and elected a bunch of their guys who are now busy trying to gut and privatize Medicare.
Is anyone feeling like they’ve been duped?
Or, here’s another riddle for you. The tea party candidates ran for office saying that all that mattered were jobs, jobs, jobs. Then they got elected and are busy cutting government jobs, which are, after all, real jobs doing useful things. Feeling duped?
And then there’s the question of cutting taxes. That also seems like a good idea. But it might also be a good idea to check out just whose taxes are being cut and whose are going up. The answer seems to be that the Republicans want to cut taxes for the rich and make the old and the poor pay more for basic services.
I agree with the tea party folks. Washington is broken and a lot of greedy people are scooping up our hard-earned dollars to add to their oversized piles of cash.
Here’s a definition to learn: Kleptocracy: A government characterized by rampant greed and corruption; a government by those who seek chiefly status and personal gain at the expense of the governed.
