Celebrate America’s Independence at Old Fort Western, 1-6 p.m; 1 p.m. public tours; 4 p.m. Fourth of July Parade starting at the Capitol Parking Lot. Traditional reading of the Declaration of Independence followed by the replacing of the British colors with the “new” American flag. Then the cannon will be fired with lots of rousing cheers and well wishes for this wonderful country. This ceremony was first performed in 1776 and has been re-enacted at Fort Western for more than 50 years.

Mill Park celebration, 5-9 p.m., live music by Emerald Sky and The Zacc Tyler Band, a bounce house, trolley rides, vendors and more

Fireworks, 9:15 p.m. fireworks.

MONDAY, JULY 4

Community breakfast, 7:30 a.m., Varney Building. A five-mile run (and 5k walk), 8 a.m., Brooks Community Park; sign in starts at 7 a.m. Parade will start at 10 a.m. Other events at the Park include a horse pull, children’s events, pig scramble, chicken barbecue, and a chili cook-off. There will be live music from the Belfast Bay Fiddlers, The Rugged, and Don Nickerson and the Country Mist.

Fireworks, 10 p.m. The gate price at the park will be $2 for adults, free for children 12 and younger.
