ANSON — A North Anson boy was recently bestowed with Boy Scouting’s highest rank, Eagle Scout. Raymond Wacome, III received his Eagle Scout patch, medal, kerchief and plaque at a Court of Honor ceremony on June 18 in Anson.

For his Eagle Scout project, Wacome spent several hundred hours working in conjunction with the Anson Historical Society applying new siding, painting and updating the structure of the old Bailey Farm Windmill. The windmill was built in 1905 and was added to the National Historic Register in 1988

Wacome, 17, is a 2011 graduate of Carrabec High School in North Anson, was a co-captain of the school’s tennis team, and is a member of the National Junior Honor Society in addition to many other extracurricular activities.

He is the son of Betty Wacome of North Anson and Raymond Wacome, II of New Vineyard. He plans to attend the University of Maine at Orono in the fall.
