WATERVILLE — Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Baker of Winslow celebrated 50 beautiful years of marriage on May 29, 2011, at a party at Governor’s in Waterville. The party was given by their family and friends.

Mr. Baker and the former Annette Lachance were married May 30, 1961 at St. John the Baptist Church in Winslow. They met at the lunch counter at Woolworth’s in Waterville.

Mrs. Baker worked for St. John the Baptist Church, the Bank of Maine and the Winslow Credit Union.

Mr. Baker was Director of Public Works in Winslow, a Winslow Town Councilman and worked for the Department of Transportation in Augusta.

The couple had two daughters, Lana Poulliot of Winslow and Lisa Hachey of Raleigh, N.C.; two grandchildren, Matthew and Christopher Poulliot of Winslow.

Guests from the original wedding party included best man Joseph Baker, of Windsor Locks, Conn.; maid of honor June Lachance, of Winslow; flower girl Gale Ward, of Winslow; bridesmaid Beatrice Giroux, of Winslow, and groomsman Renald Lachance, of Winslow. Many nieces and nephews, sisters-in-law and friends celebrated with the Bakers.

The wedding cake was made by Lori Gibbs, their niece.
