I read this morning about L.D. 1203, the racino bill, not passing.
Why can’t a business decide to move to another location with that town’s approval? This going back to the voters is really depressing.
Many jobs were depending on this bill. I fear that harness racing will be only at the fairs now, if the horsemen come back to the state to race.
There is a big difference between a casino and a racino. I could give many reasons why casinos won’t work, but I guess time will tell.
Time was a big factor in this bill. Scarborough and the horsemen needed this to pass now.
In closing, I want to note that Gov. Paul LePage has caused many people to have to uproot to another state because the industry is dead in the state of Maine.
