As another local area pastor, I wish to express my support for the Rev. James Gill’s views, which he expressed in a letter to the editor on July 2.

All Christians should be concerned, as other people of good will are, that the growing gap between the very wealthy and the “the rest of us, both middle class and the poor” is not right.

“Shared sacrifice” by all to balance our nation’s budget is needed. The challenges of ending government deficits should not be born primarily by the poor, the elderly, the weak, the sick and the young in our state and nation.

We can do better!
