AUGUSTA — The Bureau of Motor Vehicles expects a significant increase in driver’s license renewals this month.
The number of renewals are projected to nearly double, increasing from 128,170 (January 2010-June 2011) to 237,435 (July 2011-December 2012).
To renew a license two documents are needed: one that verifies Maine residency, and one that proves legal presence in the U.S. Acceptable documents include birth certificates, U.S. passports, Maine license, and state identification with physical address.
