WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan recently announced Maine will receive $2 million to improve its lowest-achieving schools through the School Improvement Grants program.

The grant will be distributed by formula to the state and will then be competed out by the state to school districts. Maine’s application can be found at www2.ed.gov/programs/sif/sum mary2010/index.html.
