NORTH ANSON — A resident of Campground Road was arrested Friday morning on drug charges following a search warrant at his home.

Eugene Hutchins, 53, was arrested and initially charged with trafficking in a schedule W drug, cocaine, a Class B felony, according to Detective Lt. Carl Gottardi of the Somerset Count Sheriff’s Department. Further drug charges are pending review by the district attorney, Gottardi said.

The search warrant was carried out at about 5:30 a.m. Friday by the sheriff’s department warrant team members, which include Gottardi and Sgt. Michael Knight, Detective Mathew Cunningham and deputies Wilfred Dodge, Gene Cole, Don Avery, Jeremy Leal and Brad Barrett.

Police seized approximately 11 grams of cocaine, processed marijuana, marijuana plants, drug-related paraphernalia and $2,200 in cash, according to Gottardi.
