AUGUSTA — “Survivor” finalist Ashley Underwood will present a seminar, PowerUp with Ashley Underwood, on Aug. 13 at the University of Maine at Augusta Richard J. Randall Student Center.

The seminar will teach teenage girls how to focus on the importance of confidence, self-respect, setting goals and standing up to peer pressures, according to a news release.

There will be an open forum to share feelings and concerns and interactive discussions followed by “Ask Ashley,” where girls are encouraged to ask questions and seek advice.

Underwood was the third runner up on this season of “Survivor: Redemption Island.” She is also a fitness consultant and former professional basketball player, and was crowned Miss Maine in 2009.

A session for girls age 12-14 will take place from 9 to 11:30 a.m., with registration beginning at 8 a.m. A second session, for girls age 15-17, will take place from 1:30 to 4 p.m. with registration at 12:30 p.m.

The cost is $50 per person or $40 per person in a group of seven.
