PORTLAND — Authorities say power has been restored in the North Deering area after a car struck a telephone pole earlier this morning.

Police don’t have a cause for the accident, but say a taxi hit the pole near 94 Auburn St. After the impact, the pole snapped and landed on the taxi. The driver was not injured.

Crews from Central Maine Power, as well as cable and telephone companies, are on scene repairing lines. The section of road near the accident is also closed to traffic.
